When I was very little I can remember being at my Grandparents house and my Grandad was watching a horror movie. I don't know why he was watching it just before we were about to have Sunday lunch, but I think he thought that I didn't really understand what was going on. To be honest, he was right. I wasn't really sure what was going on, but I can still remember that it scared me (although I highly doubt it would frighten me if I saw it today) and I can still remember bits of it. I'd really appreciate it if you could help to find out what the movie was called. Stuff I do know:- My Grandad bought it on VHS from a Pound Shop/Bargain Basement kinda shop.
- The story centred around a young boy - probably in his very early teens. He had dark hair.
- There we little dwarfy/demon things that I think came out of the ground.
- At one point in the film he looked at a family portrait and it changed - the whole family was dead in the picture.
- I think a lamp (like a genie lamp) may have been involved.
This is probably a lost cause, but I thought it was worth a try... and I just remembered it today! lol |

I went oon IMDB yesterday and just started searching for random things! Judging by the fact that I was pretty young when I saw it, I'm guessing that it was released either in the 1980s or early 1990s.

Judging by the fact that I was pretty young when I saw it, I'm guessing that it was released either in the 1980s or early 1990s. I know the movie i was thinking of but i dont know if its the one you saw. 'THE GATE' was made in 1987 and is about a few young kids that release loads of miniture demons from a portal. I hope its the one but im not sure it will be! Do a Google search "The gate" and you will get tons of info. Fingers crossed!  |

Glad i could help Lou. This movie is a pretty cool one. I remember watching it as a kid. HEY, i might go down my local video store and burn it myself. OOPS i mean hire it, lol.

Yeah, in fact the only versions I could find were the German ones... Perhaps it was a really big film over there?
