Bert was a very good friend to my father who is currently in a rather bad place at the moment being ill and also having many problems.
Bert was only 42. He wasnt the worlds most respected man - in fact he could be a bit of a pervert at times but he was harmless I knew the guy for years and grew up thinking of him as my dads best friend.
He had his own problems, divorced with children and wasnt the #1 role model but he was a good friend to my dad who needed it and whenever we had a problem, we knew we could count on him.
He was always being clumsy and had a rather nasty fall which he fell and hurt his head.
He then had another fall in my fathers flat when borrowing his shower and hit his head against the radiator.
He never followed any appointments up after he visited A&E and was told he had a broken cheek and damaged his eye socket.
since then he was very clumsy, always falling and at times his legs would give out. My dad grew worried but no matter how ill this guy was, he was always there to help my dad.
One day my dad convinced him to go to the doctors because he was really worried about him - Bert called the doctor in the morning and got an appointment in the afternoon. He went to his ex wifes home to use her bath and sadly before the ex wife returned, he had a fit in the bath and drowned. The fit was caused by growing problems since his fall.
my dad lost his best friend and we lost someone who we knew made him happy and was also a good loyal friend to our family no matter how hard life was to him.
He might have not been a saint but he was a true friend and considered a family member.
I miss you Bert and i know my dad misses you so much!
Hope you're happy now! x
