Thought I would rant about it here as well since all the other forums have heard it lol.
After managing to obtain a copy of the 2008 version One Missed Call - originally a 2004 Japanese horror about a plague of mysterious voicemails displaying a future date and time as well as a voicemail from the intended next victim of their iniment fate when it happens.
Sounds spookey huh?
Me too!
*spoilers*
Sounds like a great concept and I will admit, i was thoroughly enjoying the film. But the problem with adaptations of Japanese movies is that the japanese do not seem to mind plot holes, infact the japaneses' movies are so well done, we often just look over any conflictions and just enjoy a good movie
But the directors of this movie seem to forget they are catering to the US and UK and we dont like plot holes, do we?
So as i was saying - great movie, corny acting, a few too many irritating screams for the lead but the story was good until half way through the film. Now its half way through the film and they believe they have found the culprit, but you know its halfway through the film, so how can they find and destory the culprit oh and also, if you have seen it, the voicemails display the point of your death as to which you will DIE (yeh die is the keyword here) we find our damsel in the position where she is obv coming to her time, she finds what/who she was looking for of course some confrontation and she repeats what her voicemail says.........
and she lives.......
and then they come to the conclusion that the thing/person was protecting her.....how the hell can they come up with that?
anyway thats rant one!
basically its utter chedder cheese! they search for the next person - finally find them - detective comes to save the day - dies - she is about to be killed but a saviour arrives and holds onto the evil ghost, and puts them into the mobile......
then it rings....
and rings.......
and im going "good it will show the next day"......
nope - credits...
what a crappy way to end a film. so basically the spirit is trapped in the phone forever to kill people.
the other "good spirit" leaves in the form of "kennys goodbye from southpark" and "Patrick swayzes ghost"
ugh! i wasted an hour and a half of my life
give me japanese horror over us remakes anyway - which is why i refuse to watch the grudge 2!
