Reading the news paper the other day i came across an article about another death while an exorcism was being performed. I wonder what the cause of death would be as they never add the reason! Maybe it's from the length of time it takes (sometimes days), heart failure as the person involved would be scared out of there wits or maybe the demon won? Is anyone able to shed some light on this topic?

I remember I saw an "exorcism" on the net by a spanish family whos son whom was apparently posessed and the processed seemed very brutal - there was one point where the guy was beating the son to bat the evil out of him - i wouldnt be surprised if they were beaten to death. section 6 of the wiki is quite good at explaining some of the deaths and trauma en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exorcism#Exorcism-related_deaths_and_traumas |

I was looking into other stories of it and apparently brutality is a big part of exorism. They need to beat the subject to push the evil out.
Many survive with broken ribs as they believe the evil lies in their stomach and chest
Many often refuse to eat while being posessed claiming the demons will not let them and this is also a main cause of death.
Some of the videos on youtube show some of the "processes" although many are fake but there is one called Islamic Exorcism which isnt violent really but is quite scary to see.

I found there were about 6 different movies that come up. The one i saw was of a woman who looked pretty freaky! It was pretty tame though.

I think thats the same one i got only her face and eyes were so haunting, just the overall atmospher of the "exorcism" and proceedings was pretty eery and also with everyone sitting round watching and holding her down

My mother hates those kind of movies, especially anything about possessions. Ever since she saw the first Exorcism movie, she's been really desperate to make sure no one in her family would get possessed. I may have different personalities and at times that would cause her to freak out, thinking I've gotten possessed, but mainly it's just me being bi-polar, I suppose. At times I would be really nice to someone and then in the next moment they would be laying on the ground with a broken arm and blood pouring out of their nose just because I had gotten mad over something small. It's never good to mess around me, especially to try and scare me! XD

Yeah seems a lot of the excorcism end in death. They must be pretty harsh on the so called possessed person. Noticed to that alot of them have some sort of disability, probably confused with possession, maybe?

I have heard cases where signs of schitzophrania (sp?) has been confused with possession. I take a class with a young girl who obv has some sort of problem metally but she claims she is a medium and often in the middle of class, she zones out and starts to speak rather unusually, as if she is someone else. Her actions are actually quite convincing, i know a couple of times, some of her actions have been quite eerie to say the least

I have a disability - it's me being deaf and only able to hear through a device called a cochlear implant, but that doesn't make me possessed. If I was possessed, trust me, I would be acting wild and yet normal.

I don't think twanger was saying all people with disabilities are possessed, lol. It is true though that some disabilities are said to be that of the devil. It's quite absurd that in this day and age people can still think like this!
