This is a question that was posed on another forum where I am a member (oddly enough it was an advertising forum...) and I wondered what your thoughts on this were.
So... Are you afraid of death?
(It's pretty deep - I know!)

Everyone's afraid of death. There's only a rare few that aren't. I'm not scared of it at times although at others I am. Thinking about what happens after you die is kind of scary because you never really know if there's really somewhere to go, or if you would be in pitch black for the rest of eternity. I believe in reincarnation, and that's what gives me courage when it comes to dying.

This is a question i faced and had to deal with not long ago. Probably the first time iv'e spoken about really, well outside of the circle anyway. I had a heart attack about 8 months ago and was told i was pretty lucky i survived. Im not over weight but i guess thats what happens when you live the life of drinking and smoking full on! So to tell you the truth i didn't even think about it at the time but a month or so later it hit home. Afraid of death, i don't know but i think it's more being afraid of what will happen to the ones you leave behind, especially when you have kids.

Yes, I wouldn't want to die when I have children around. They wouldn't be able to survive without me, especially when my mother's side of the family is so harsh and my father's side of the family so poor. I would rather them be raised by a demon than by my own family, to tell the truth. Writing wills, though...how would you know when it's time to write one?!

Heh, I guess I should start writing mine when I have kids. I would have to figure out how to explain death to them and not get them so curious or so scared of it. Kids are so hard to explain things to these days...

You had a will written up when you were 21? Perhaps I should think about writing one... Not that I have much to give away!
SoulSnake - I'm sorry to hear about the heartattack. I hope you're ok now.
I'd say I was scared of dying, but it's not something I really think about all of the time! I think it's more of a fear of the unknown than anything else. It's human nature to fear things that we don't understand.

My only concern on death is where you end up after you die..I believe when you die that's it game over eternal darkness. But it's only an opinion. I should look into getting a will soon, I get nervous when I get off work at night, there's a lot of deer and other animals who like to run across the street.

I think im scared of death because im unsure what to expect. I was brought up a Roman Catholic and made to believe in heaven and hell and told that if you were catholic/christian and good you would go to heaven. Because my dad is an Athiest (sp?) i used to have nightmares of him not making it to heaven lol. Now because i am older and i know that there may not be as much truth in the heaven/hell thing, i actually feel quite empty. Sounds quite sad but i prefer to think there is something waiting for me. i think the other concern is whether i will be in pain or not. Heartattacks/cancer/war/etc is on the up and i am scared of being a victim to one of those i think people are scared of death because they are scared of the unknown and cease to exist. Its a scary realisation that you will not exist one day
