I always wondered what dreams are for and why do we have them? Please give your thoughts about what the purpose of dreams are.

I remember when the Indians (American Natives) used to say that dreams were your soul's quest to find the true yourself. Hmm, wonder if that's true.

I'm no expert (not by any stretch of the imagination), but I think that dreams could be a way for your brain to sort out the days events and thoughts.

People are always asking why they have dreams, nightmares, or even visions. In a way, consider it being memories of something from your past life, or present life, and possibly a vision from your future life. Your brain takes in the emotions you've had throughout the day or at the time when you're dreaming something up, which would explain why you have a pounding heart when you wake up after a nightmare, because you're experiencing fear in your dream. Wet dreams, I wouldn't say anything about those. /whistles. But yeah, dreams are strange yet they are somewhat comfortable. I think it's important for one to dream. It is after all necessary to be imaginative and creative.

I used to study dreams when i was younger and its amazing how objects can enter your dreams which often symbolise something current in your life.
Someone had a dream which i broke down which involved a warehouse, ladder, fireman etc and once it was all broken down it came about as he was having some issues regarding a family member whom he loves dearly who has went down the wrong path and he is desperately worried about i.e. a gang and because of this, it has caused conflicts with family members around him but the fireman symbolised a figure of power.
He later said that for the past week all that was on his mind was his cousin whom he had grown up with had recently joined a gang and gotten into drugs and he is fearing for her life but since his family found out, his cousins mother will not talk to her and she is causing many problems between family members and driving a wedge between many in the family but he was hoping to take it upon himself to try and help his cousin feeling he was the only one who might be able to help her..
I think both of us were quite shocked with the result.
Dreams are mearly your selfconcious spilling its guts basically. while on the outside you might be caging it in, when you dream you have no control what your mind and thoughts and they mould into something we can handle

You seem to know what you are talking about and we would love to see some of your thoughts on the nightmares that already exist here if you are willing to comment on them?

Interesting. I didn't realize I had competition, but you did do a good job, metalcherry. Keep up the good work and hopefully someday people would finally understand what dreams are really for.

LOL I can give it a try - I haven't read for quite some time, that was actually the last time i read. I have never been so spot on but the guys dream was quite rich with detail so i guess the accuracy of the detail helped a bit but feel free to throw some and i will see what i can bring I laugh at some of the objects which your dreams transforms your current thoughts into, like a dartboard in a dream indicates some anger or hostility to a person and you are feeling you need to get rid of the anger - hense the symbol of the dartboard. Most of them seem so unusual but when you think about them they often make sense. At the moment my dreams are involving dungeons (LOL) and it indicates that despite problems i am currently encountering if i fight through them, i will overcome the obsticles and find a solution - at the moment, im currently beginning to look at a new career which i have little experience in due to problems in my current job but looking into courses that can help as well as trying to sort some family problems which i would guess would fall under that catagory. Its loads of fun looking into dreams! but i class it under fortune tellers - I have never been a big believer in fortune tellers or mediums - their details are so vague that there would be something in your life that would fall under their "vision". Dream theory is quite similar, it gives you a brief of what feelings someone is having and often there is something similar happening in the dreamers life lol. Although would love it if dreams were as Jaden said, souls quests. thats would be cool

Soul quests are really cool; I'm hoping to meet some Indians who still carry on the tradition of a spiritual quest because to be honest I hardly know myself these days.
