I think just about everyone has had this dream but:
1. what does it mean?
2. Is it true if you hit the ground before waking up you will die in your sleep?
3. Is there any reported cases proven that #2 question has actually happened?

I've had this one! No idea at all! 2. Is it true if you hit the ground before waking up you will die in your sleep? I don't really think this is true... If someone did die after having the falling dream, how would we know? 3. Is there any reported cases proven that #2 question has actually happened? See answer to 2.

It's exactly right. If you were falling in your sleep before you woke up but you didn't hit the ground, then you would be fine. But if you hit the ground before you woke up it's best to start getting prepared, write down a will or testament, and such. My cousin said he had the dream and he had hit the ground, and a week later he had passed away because of drugs.

I have heard the same thing. People say death is imminent once you have hit the ground. I guess death is imminent anyway!

In a way, that dream is sort of a vision telling you that your time's almost up. Imagine the empty space around you your life becoming void. You could imagine yourself in a giant hourglass, so while you are falling, the sand's falling. But once you've hit the ground, the sand has stopped falling and so your time is up. It's a simple example for that dream.

Well, okay, I'm going to lock this because you've gotten the answer you seeked, hopefully. And SoulSnake, trust me, until that hourglass runs out of sand to fall, you're perfectly fine. I've had the same dream, probably twice or three times, each at a far different time from the other, and never once have I hit the ground.
There was something about if you landed on your feet when you "hit" the ground, it would mean you could live much longer than you were meant to because you have a worldly purpose to serve. But of course, it is only a rumor that was started a few years back.

You don't, devildude.
That's the thing, you never know when death's lurking around the corner. Even the doctors wouldn't know. They could tell you that you would die in a week but then they would find your body in your bed the very next morning, right after you had that conversation with the doctor.
If someone's hit the ground in their dream from a long fall, they would know they are about to die, but they wouldn't be sure when.
And then again, no one ever knows how someone dies unless they do a autospy.
